Player of the Year 2010/2011
Although the outright winner was Stephen O'Donnell for Player of the year and Leigh Griffiths for Young Player of the Year it was decided to recognise the fantastic achievement of the whole club in over-coming the adversity of a 25 points deduction and going on a fantastic 23 game unbeaten run. Therefore three awards were presented by the Fife Dark Blues. Senior Player of the year which went to Neil McCann. Neil is fondly remembered for Chipping a goalkeeper, sending the Derry mental and sparking a massive derry rumba in Perth a number of years ago. Who would have thought in our time of need he would return, chip a goalkeeper, sending the derry mental and sparking another massive derry rumba. Neil received a Fife Dark Blues Quaich.
An award was collected by Barry Smith and it was presented to "Dundee FC to
mark our gratitude to all management and staff who contributed to the success
of season 2010/2011"
The awards given to Dundee FC were crystal decanters engraved with the Fife
Dark Blues Logo and the quoted subscription above.

FDB Predictor winner Congratulations to the winner of the Fife Dark Blues predictor league - Rick Stern. Thanks to all who took part this season and hopefully we see you back again. Rick has been a consistent high scorer throughout the season and has never been far away from the top of the league. We asked Rick to tell us a little about himself and when you read the info below you will all agree that Rick is a worthy winner of his prize. "I was brought up at 77 Sandeman Street, which is the tenement facing the Dens Park main stand. As a schoolboy I watched the Dee in the days of Albert Jullieson, Billy Steel, Ernie Ewen Etc... I was at the 3 consecutive finals with my father and saw us lift the League Cup twice. Fast forward to the Championship team of 1962 and I knocked about with the unmarried boys, who lived locally (Ian Ure, Alan Gilzean, Bobby Adamson, Tommy Mackle) and when I married in 1963 Ian Ure was my best man. I introduced video to Dens when Davie White was the manager and in these days it needed a hoist to get the VHS recorder and black and white camera to the gantry !! I moved to Spain for personal reasons 1n 1991 and lived there for 15 years which is where Hercules comes in. They were my local team in Alicante and I watched them, although I still kept up with the Dark Blues. We returned to Dundee in 2006 due to ill health and of course I was able to resume my support of my beloved DFC. Although disabled and not capable of attending on a regular basis I did manage to see the first home game this season v Falkirk as a Hospitality guest. I think the season past has been stressful, but with the current squad and Barry Smith we should be able to compete next season. In conclusion I would like to say how much I enjoy your predictor and each Saturday I look forward to checking the results. Please convey my regards to the runners up and all the participants. I look forward to taking part again next season. Ray Stern Well done Rick and Happy Birthday when it arrives. Fife Dark Blues |

Glenrothes Strollers '96 Colts The Team that the Fife Dark Blues are sponsoring this season are at home this week against Kelty Marion Colts. K.O. is 10am at Overstenton Park. All are welcome to attend, and see the youngsters playing. This could be classed as a pre-Derry aperitif in the morning, then the main course at 3pm at Dens. The boys have got off to a reasonable start this season, winning 2 out of their 3 league matches, and having a reasonable mini run in the Scottish Cup run, which involved 2 matches that went to extra time, against teams from the higher league. In the first round, the Colts defeated Inverkeithing 3-2 aet, after coming back from 2 goals down in regulation time. In the second round they were 1-0 up until the last minute, against Elgin Star, but eventually went out to a 3-1 defeat, no thanks to the poorest, weakest, 1 sided display of refereeing you will ever see. It does make for a good Saturday morning, and we hope to see you there. |

The Fife Dark Blues have booked a 25 seater coach, for the following
matches, and prices have been finalised. Anyone wishing to book a seat on
any of the buses, please contact Peter Campbell on 07766 887333, or email at
transport@fifedarkblues.co.uk . Pick up points and times will appear at a later date on the front page. Due to the fact that the away matches are in a space of about 5 weeks, and to lighten the burden of the away-day weekend costs, we are offering a package where you can pay up a 4 match package at a cost of £10 per month for 5 months, saving yourself £10 on the cost of paying for the buses individually. The matches that the package covers is one away trip (the first half of the fixtures) to Partick Thistle, QoS, Morton & Dingwall. Should a match be postponed, your trip would transfer to the corresponding match, later in the season. Choosing this option guarantees your seats on the bus. Please direct your interest in this package to Peter on transport@fifedarkblues.co.uk . Members can now book seats on all of the following trips at any time, although it should be noted that any unsold seats will go on sale to the general public, 2 weeks prior to match day. Seats will then be sold on a first come - first served basis. It should also be noted that alcoholic drink is not permitted on any bus, for any trip. Any person found with alcohol on the bus will be ejected from the bus immediately, no matter where we are on the trip, & membership will be revoked from the supporters club.

Due to a request by a couple of our members, we will have specially designed supporters club ties available for purchase at our next meeting. The tie will cost no more than £10, but might be a bit cheaper, once we finally get the shipping costs. The design is a diagonal thick bands of blue & red, with a thinner white band between the thick bands. The Fife Dark Blue logo is embroidered on the bottom blue panel. The logo is shown on the image to the left. The idea was suggested that on the hospitality day, against the Rovers, and also the Player of the Year dinner, that we all turn up wearing our club tie. Dundee are the Alba Cup Champions
What a day & what a birthday present !!!!!!!!!!! Its been a long
time since we won anything of significance, but hopefully this is
the first part of the
double. 6000+ fans cheering us on, a great performance by the team
in the second half, and a few bevies before & after the match.
PERFECT !!!!!!!
Cup Final Sunday had a great turnout at the Clansman. There were 50 Dees from all over Fife, including 3 special guests from the Dees Down South, who were made welcome, and also joined us on the bus to the match. To Ann, Dot & Mike, we hope that you enjoyed your day, and you will be made more than welcome, the next time that you are in Fife. Please look us up.
At 3.45, I bet that there were few in dark blue who would have thought that we would be the team that were partying at full time. The first half was abysmal, and a goal didn't look in the offing. Second half was a totally different game. An OG, a sending off, joyous fans on 3 sides of the stadium, and the winning goal scored by Fife Dark Blue sponsored Craig Forsyth. (I always said that sponsoring him was a good investment).
I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall, in Dundee's dressing room at half-time. A Jocky special pep talk that done the trick. It was like a different team for the second 45. But just to say that ''Dundee are the champions'' makes me feel proud to be a Dee, and it makes all the years of winning nothing, worth it.
Photos of the day are available on the link http://www.fifedarkblues.co.uk/Gallery.htm

It should also be noted that the usual drinking laws apply on all Fife Dark Blues coach trips.
Our pre-match event, at Charley's, in Kirkcaldy, was a major success, and hopefully it was one of these events that will be talked about for a long time afterwards. 150 Dark Blues packed the hall, and all seemed to enjoy their day.
We had a great 40 minute set, supplied by the lads from the Central Dark
Blues. Songs in their set included cover versions of 5 Rebeccas,
Clubfoot, Chelsea Dagger and a rousing rendition of The Bonnets O'
Bonnie Dundee got the crowd rocking. It
was just the job to get the atmosphere bouncing, in the hall. A video of
there performance is available to view at
A big thank you to the boys, once again. You are welcome back any time.
Congratulations to all the winners.

Youth Development Presentation, Saturday, January 3rd
A
presentation of the funds that were raised at the race night that we had, in
December, was made at half-time today, during the Dunfermline match. The cheque
for £725.37 was presented to Jim Thomson on behalf of the Fife Dark Blues by
Lauren Stewart, Gordon Barrie, Sean Hall, Ross Barrie & Robert Thomson. Thanks
go to everyone who helped, attended & donated to the evening. Without the help
from fans, supporters & local businesses, we would not have been able to raise
as much as we did. A special thanks also goes to the family, who wish to remain
anonymous, who donated £125.
As mentioned before, the money that was raised has been donated to aid the Youth Development programme at Dens Park, & hopefully, it won't be too long before we will start to see the benefits of young talent like Kyle Benedictus & Kevin McDonald, coming through the ranks again. The more that we can raise as a supporters club, the more that we can donate to the Youth Development Programme, which hopefully means that the club can supply better equipment & facilities, which can only mean that we produce a better standard of player.
The Under 19 team left today to compete in an exchange tournament in Portugal, which runs until the 17th of January. Hopefully, experiences like this will give the young guys the kind of experience that will spur them on to greater things. We hope to have a report on the tournament, kindly supplied by John Holt, upon their return.
The Fife Dark Blues also hope to have a weekly lottery starting within the next two weeks. All the monies raised will be donated towards Youth Development. Details will follow shortly.
Well, here we go again !! Another Saturday, another must win game. This week we are hosts to Ian McCall's Partick Thistle. On Thistles earlier visit to Dens this season, they went through to the next round of the CIS cup, thanks to a dubious last minute penalty, giving them a 2-1 win.
Thanks to all who attended, donated & participated in the inaugural event for the Fife Dark Blues Supporters Club. The general consensus for the evening was that it was a great success, & a great sum of money was made, which once all monies have been received, all members will be notified of the amount, & a donation will be made to the Youth Development Academy for Dundee FC, on behalf of the Supporters Club. Special thanks go to Dougie Horne, Neil Marshalsey & Lauren Stewart for their assistance on the evening, and to Dave Stewart (the buffet man---not poofy man !!!! Lauren), for the great buffet that he managed to produce for us.
The weekend was a good one apart from the football on the Saturday afternoon, and as the picture shows, the night before has obviously taken its toll on some of the younger members !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Friday evening was great. Lets make the next one even better.

IF the match goes ahead, I would suspect that there will be a few sore heads on the supporters club bus, going through to the game !!!!
But once again, it will be weather dependant. Last weeks home match, that Clyde had, against Airdrie was cancelled due to a frozen pitch. If the weather doesn't warm up a bit, this weeks match could go the same way. With Broadwood being the highest professional Football Football Stadium, above sea level, in Scotland, and also having one end missing, allowing the weather elements to have virtually the freedom of Cumbernauld, it doesn't bode well.
Clyde are a team that have struggled, blowing hot and cold, most of the season. Recent impressive results are a 2-0 win away to QoS, & a 2-2 home draw with St. Johnstone (who they also beat 3-2, in August, at MacDiarmid Park), although, on the whole, there form is no better than mediocre. Their last 6 league matches give a form guide of:
P6 W2 L3 D1 F5 A8 Pts 7
Our form still reads the same as last week, since the return of Jocky.
P4 W2 L0 D2 F5 A2 Pts 8
Clyde are sitting in the play-off place, just 2 points from the basement spot. This game is as important to them, as it is to us. If they win, we are just 1 point above them, if we win, the chink of daylight between us, turns into a crack. A 7 point gap, gives us breathing space. Clyde have two definitely out for Saturday. Stuart Kettlewell has fractured a rib and will be out for three to four weeks. Neil McGregor is improving but is a couple of weeks away yet. He began running at training this week and he’ll and will be back for selection soon
Dundee have Colin Cameron & Kyle Benedictus still on the long term sick list. Colin McMenamin and Darren Young might make an appearance, but it could still be a week to early for them. A goal after 17 seconds and an assist early in the second half from Mickael Antoine Curier ensured Guadeloupe's passage to the Semi Finals and the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2009, and ensures that he will still be sunning himself in Jamaica, for another few days, while we endure temperatures of just above freezing.
My prediction for this week is 25 hangovers, and a tight 2-1 victory, IF the game goes ahead.

A
fund raising night is taking place on December 12th, at the Clansman Bar
Leslie, with a 7.00pm kick off . Tickets for this event are sold out. Funds
raised on the night are being donated to the Dundee FC Youth Development.
A win at managerless Livingston, this week, will be seen as a massive step to getting seriously back into the mix. Livi are bound to be in turmoil, after the week that they have had. Financial irregularities showing its head again, being dumped out of the Scottish Cup by lowly East Stirling & the sacking of their management team on Monday.
Just a reminder that DSA are having a Pre Match Hospitality before the Dundee v Dunfermline match on Saturday 3rd Jan 2009, in Stobswell Sports & Recreation Club, 5 Raglan St, Dundee from 11am to 2.30pm. It will be a good way to wish everyone a Happy New Year and enjoy a New Year drink with all DSA supporters clubs.
Bobby Brady and Jump the Q will be the fantastic entertainment. Tickets are priced at £5 each (same cost for children)
As this is sure to be a sell out event, tickets will be provided on a first come first served basis.
